Leaning on Jesus

In church this morning, one of the songs we sang was the old favorite, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms. Always good, but people are dealing with family battling cancer, or loss of job, or struggle with their kids, so this song and the sermon Donn shared, really mean something. In uncertain times, only Jesus is certain!

As March ends

March will soon be over - I love April. I just finished watching one of my favorite movies - The Magic of Ordinary Days - it's a Hallmark movie. It's just a lovely romantic movie - clean and good. Check it out if you have never seen it. Big news around here is that we will be grandparents again in the fall!!!!!Yippee!!!!

Sunday greetings

Hi to all. Have you ever stood for hours doing one job and walked away with such satisfaction? Yesterday, 5 of us drove down to Chippewa Falls and helped packaged 82,500 meals that will be sent to Haiti. Two teen girls who went to Alaska with us, put this whole project together. I am so proud of them! It took an army of people to fill all those bags, to keep us supplied with the dried foods going in them, to load the boxes in the semi truck, to provide snacks to keep everyone going, and to "register" everyone as they came in - that really involved handing out the cute nets for our hair and taking our donations if we had them. This food will feed many people. Another 250,000 bags will be added to those we filled to help with the feeding project. We also thank Kids Against Hunger, IDES, and Lifeline who are providing the other meals, the shipping costs, or other help needed to make this even happen. We also stopped in to see Heidi, a young friend from our community who is suffering from either ALS or Lymes. She is unable to communicate other than with her thumbs, the shake of her head, or with her eyes. We ask that people pray for this young wife and mother.

Thursday happenings

Well hello to all. Do you enjoy basketball? I do, especially this time of year. I have been watching the NCAA games along with the state boys basketball games. So far I have done well with the bracket - a first for me. I have been cleaning upstairs - stripped beds, dusted and vacuumed. I have also hit the laundry hard. There is still alot to do in there. I work all day tomorrow plus we will be gone much of Saturday, so today is it until next week. It's so pretty out - a bit cold today, but not a cloud in the sky. Our snow is all gone. Lynn is home from doing carpentry. He is happy that he has a couple of jobs to do this spring. Thank you God for your provision!

Wednesday Greetings

Well, the dishes are actually done or at least in the dishwasher getting done, Lynn is off to my brother's to work, we had Nate and family out for lunch to celebrate Andrew's birthday - he is one today, and I need to make some copies of Bible lesson stuff for our class tonight. We will finish watching the Miracle Maker - the clamation picture Mel Gibson produced in 2000. It's a lovely day outside. I did some cleaning today, but have much more to do plus laundry to tackle tomorrow. I've been asked to pick up mail that belongs to my brother - piling up at the Post Office. I should head to town in an hour or so. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Bernita

We celebrated Bernita's birthday at Joyce's apartment. She made a delicious meal and we had birthday cake w/ice cream. Daughter Katie and husband Jason came just after the meal to pick up our granddaughter Emma, who spent the weekend with us. Spring seems to finally be here - temps are in the 50's this week - the snow is more or less gone - just in the ditches now. Have a wonderful St. Patrick Day birthday Bernita!!! May you have many more. Doing well at 92!

Saturday

Hi to all. Emma has come to stay with us this weekend. I have to work today so she and Grandpa will be doing things together. We had a really good supper at church last night and then we watched the DVD by John Tesh - Worship at Red Rocks. It was excellent! Compassion Ministry put this on for all servants at church. It was very nice. Today will be beautiful out. Sunny, around 50 for a high - great Maple Syrup weather! The whole week should be nice. This picture of Emma shows her trying to blow up a balloon. We used them in Sunday School.
