Donna and Rebecca showing the semi that will haul the cartons of food we filled. 16 of us made the trip to Chippewa Falls - 50 minutes from our home - to help package a dried food mix for the Haitian people. Each table held 9 people, each with a job to do. We worked up to one hour - filling 5 or 6 boxes. We each paid $30 to cover cost of food and shipping. Last year we worked the entire 4 hours filling as many boxes as we could - only to find out later that the shipping had not been met for all those extra boxes. So this year we were held to less time and less boxes unless we wanted to pay more. We saw a number of friends from around the area. Many from the Sheldon Church of Christ also worked. The girls who spear headed this were a part of the group we traveled to Alaska with.

Joann, Molla and Susie at work. Each person puts their part of the package in - a dried veggie mix, a soup base, a dried soy, and rice. Then they are weighed, and then sealed. 36 bags would fit in a box.

Part of our group was at another table of 9. Nearly 50,000 meals were packaged and will be added to another 250,000 meals that others have packaged at Kids Against Hunger events. A mission in Haiti is using the food we sent last year. This is greatly needed now. The youth group of Landmark Christian Church put this event on for the 2nd year.
