It's been a while

Good evening. In just a few minutes, the Sunday night football preview will begin - the Vikings and Packers play tonight!!! Big game in these parts!


We have had rain the past two days. It was kind of nice to receive it. We have had a full month of sunshine and lovely weather. The leaves are now off the trees. Most crops have been harvested. We know that our fall weather will soon turn to more wintry weather. It's the long days of light that I miss most. It's been so dark in the morning. I will appreciate the time turning back to at least have more light for a while. I just looked at the web cams of Alaska. Barrow Alaska was already dark @ 3 in the afternoon with plenty of snow on the ground which they have had since September. It's fun to view these cams from time to time. One of the views is of Anchorage as it faces Mt. McKinley. Though it is well over a hundred miles away by air, it looms over the skyline when the skies are clear. I also follow some Alaskan blogs - most by teachers living in small remote villages. Life is very different and often very hard. There is no driving to another town to shop, no going out to eat at a local restaurant if they choose, all shopping is online unless they fly to Bethel or Anchorage to shop. Even in Bethel, they are limited as it is not connected by roads after you leave the city.
